Research interests
The focus of my research is to facilitate the potential of devices dedicated to the mechanical circulatory support of patients with heart defects. Particularly, progressing the development of a rotodynamic blood pump for patients palliated with a Fontan circulation. I specifically aim to widen the range of addressable patients by augmenting hemocompatibility and implantability of circulatory devices.
Techniques, methods & infrastructure
In order to estimate and assess device performance as well as device-related hemocompatibility, a range of in-silico methods, as computational fluid dynamics simulation, and in-vitro experiments, as hybrid test benches for hydraulic characterization or blood experiments, are employed.
