Research interests
Mechanical circulatory support (MCS) has become a standard therapy for patients with heart failure. My passion lies in enhancing the capabilities of MCS devices and expanding their applicability to unmet patient populations.

Advanced implantable circulatory devices have been developed to cater to the adult heart failure population, which require high flows. However, using these devices for pediatric patients under low flow conditions comes with an increased risk of blood trauma. My current research focuses on the development of a novel multistage blood pump to address the unmet medical need for an implantable device for the pediatric patient population with a failing left ventricle.

Techniques, methods & infrastructure
To achieve the goal of the development a novel left ventricular device, a combination of numerical and experimental methods is used. Especially methods from computer aided design, computational fluid dynamics, and in-vitro testing are employed.
